Hospitality In the Ravine
February 1st, 2008 by Sonja

Some of my readers have eaten at my table. Some do so on a daily basis. There are some who it is my dream that you will one day gather with me round my table while I cook for you.

However, I have a problem. It is the chickens, as BlazingEwe likes to say. I become distracted and forget where I’ve put things, especially recipes. I get distracted by the chickens who wander in and out of the ravine. So I’ve decided to put all my special recipes here. Those of you who want to can use them at will. But the real reason is that I’ll know where to find them when I want them. I’ll probably add to this from time to time. You can check back every now and again.

Candy Cane Bread – a Christmas family tradition that came from LightHusband’s family of origin. I copied this from my mother-in-law’s recipe collection and then was startled to discover it had originated in Betty Crocker. Who knew?

Cherry Garcia Cookies – Blazing Ewe and I made this up one afternoon out of a desire to put together the perfect cookie. We think we found it. You may not agree with us. You may go pound sand. And we will keep our cookies 😀

Cranberry Nut Bread – I love a good cranberry nut bread and it has be very tart. This one makes the grade.

Jane Brody’s Lentil Soup – This recipe comes from Jane Brody’s Good Food Book, which I once owned. I lent the book to a friend (which friend it was, I have forgotten) and so have found my favorite recipe from it and posted it here.

Three Bean Soup – a recipe I found somewhere on the web and spruced up to suit my taste.

White Chicken Chili – my very own white chili recipe.

Coming soon, my award winning red chili recipe. And Carbonnades ala Flamande.
